Finding Our Wild

“To find her, it is necessary for women to return to their instinctive lives, their deepest knowing. So, let us push on now, and remember ourselves back to the wild soul. Let us sing her flesh back onto our bones. Shed any false coats we have been given. Don the true coat of powerful instinct and knowing. Infiltrate the psychic lands that once belonged to us. Unfurl the bandages, ready the medicine. Let us return now, wild women howling, laughing, singing up The One who loves us so.

For us the issue is simple. Without us, Wild Woman dies. Without Wild Woman, we die. Para Vida, for true life, both must live.” ––Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Among the three books I’m “currently” reading, this excerpt comes from my favorite, Women Who Run with the Wolves. It was gifted to me recently and I’m not sure how I have gone 27 years without finding it. It speaks to the pure nature of every human—not just women; and Justin and I relate to the author’s words in this stage of our lives more than ever.

This “powerful instinct and knowing” has led us to where we are this year, preparing to shake off excess and get to know our true selves by first downsizing and moving into a smaller space. We are determining the difference between what we “need” vs “rely on,” simplifying our existence, and shifting closer to nature by using our camper, Virginia Blue, as the vessel. We want our life to become an inspiration to anyone feeling the natural yearning to get back to their Wild nature (and deep down, that’s everyone).

As we chronicle our story, and shed what is not our true essence, you will see us evolve. The first thing to evolve, however, will be this beautiful 1973 Roadrunner camper we bought from a rad couple who are currently traveling the US rock climbing (you can follow their story here: justgoclimb.com). Virginia Blue is perfect the way she is, but in order to fit our off-grid lifestyle, she needs updating. We demo-ed her ourselves, but her rise back to glory will take a professional, as her wooden structure has seen better days. She is scheduled to be completed in April–and that is where the real fun will begin!

Justin and I cannot wait to take everyone on our journey as we follow our intuition, dreams, ideas, sparks, and Wild nature.
